It’s That Time of Year

January 2013

Dear Friends,

Can you believe that it’s tax time again? It doesn’t seem possible that a whole year has gone by and it’s time to prepare your 2010 income tax return.bldg The first day to file your 2012 taxes is January 30, 2013.

By the end of January you should receive most of your tax information: i.e. W-2(s) and mortgage interest statements. Due to IRS changes, you may not receive your 1099 interest and dividend statements until February 15. If you are missing any of your tax related information, contact the issuing person or company and request a duplicate right away.

Getting Organized For Your 2012 Taxes:
Download a copy of our REVISED “Yellow Organizer” to help you gather your tax information. For 2012, we will be giving a discount to every client who completes their “Yellow Organizer” and brings it in. So, please take a moment to fill out this organizer and include it with your tax information.

Don’t forget, you can total up all your medical expenses for us! You keep the receipts for your records.

For other tax documents, please bring us the originals! (And Kim will be ever so happy if you forgo the staples and paperclips!)

All our specialized organizers (business income, home office, vehicle expense, rentals, itemized deductions, non-cash donations, etc.) are available from the “Tax Organizers” tab above.

If you have any new dependents, please be sure to bring in their social security cards so we can update our records.

Do you need an appointment?
If your tax situation hasn’t changed significantly from last year, or if you have a basic return, it isn’t necessary to schedule an appointment. You may drop off your information to our office. When dropping off your taxes, please allow about 15 minutes for a staff member to verify your information and go over our engagement letter with you.

Looking forward to seeing you!
